LITHUANIA’s Independence Day February 16, 1918

LITHUANIA’s Independence Day February 16, 1918 was commemorated at Labdara on February 15th.    This is the 101-st year since Lithuania declared its independence from Russia in 1918.  Labdara’s Tado Svetainė common room was appropriately decked out in the colours of the Lithuanian flag and created a festive atmosphere.  The Vice-President of the Lithuanian Community in Canada, Joana Kuras, gave the address.  This was followed by a concert of Lithuanian songs performed by the Lithuanian Pensioners’ Club “DAINA” singers led by Lilly Turūtaitė from Vilnius Manor.
